STEPHEN JOSEPH MARCOUR

Steve J. Marcour was born on April 23, 1949 in Gretna at 517

Hancock Street where he was raised and lived his whole life. His parents were Oscar and Lillian Donewar Marcour.

As an only child, he attended McDonough 25 and West Jefferson High School.

His musical career began at age 5, when he would accompany his father, an established violinist, on gigs which

Steve would play the ukulele for the crowd. In his high school days, Steve played guitar, drums and sang. He played

lead guitar with the "Chandelles" and other high school bands. The most remembered he played drums with, "The

Majestics" around 1965 & 1966 and then, " The Leaves of Grass".

Later, he sang and played drums with such bands as, "The New Orleans Levee Board" at the Round Table, Celebrity

Club. Steve played with the, "Jimmy Elledge Trio" at the Flamingo Club and played at Down the Hatch and the Crow's

Nest, just to name a few. He also had the pleasure of sitting in on drums with Fats Domino's band in the 1970's.

Steve was married to Hilma Louisa Olsen and had one son, Steven Marcour, who was also an only child. Steve

passed away on August 23, 2005 in his home in Gretna.

He played with many local bands and talented musicians and was a

dedicated musician his whole life because music was his life

STEVE P. ADAMS

Born on December 15, 1955 to E.J. and Mary Adams, Steve has one

brother, Mike Adams. Raised in Gretna, he attended St. Anthony Grammar School and graduated from Archbishop

Shaw High School.

He got his first set of drums at the age of 9 and played at church fairs and Gretna CYO dances. During high school

days, it was weddings, parties and high school dances. Then came the nightclub scene, frat houses, more weddings

and dances.

Steve has been playing drums and singing for the past 44 years and has been a full time musician since the late

1980's. He's been fortunate to have played with many talented musicians and bands named, Festus, Kaboose, Wild

Honey, Wayne Foret, Joe Dowen, The New Orleans Levee Board, T.K.

Hulin & Smoke, The Boogie Kings, Jerry LaCroix, G.G. Shinn and Bill's Blues Cruise.

In his early years on the Westbank, Steve played many dances and nightelubs as, The Round Table, The Tahiti, The

C.B.I., The Fat Cat, Down the Hatch, Visko's, After Visko's, O'Charlie's, The Celebrity Club, The Democratic Hall, The

Fireman's Hall, Tee Lee's in Raceland and Grey Fox in Luling. Some of the Eastbank venues were, The Godfather,

Crystal Palace, The Front Page, The Sands, The Bounty, Jelly Roll's, Famous Door, Crazy Corner and The Mason

Bourbon.

In the 1990's, Steve began commuting to Lafayette to sing with T.K.

Hulin. In 1994, after returning from a 10 day festival tour in Finland, Steve relocated to Lafayette, where he performed

at Back to Back, Pat's and McGee's Landing, both in Henderson, La.. He has also played at many Casino's in Baton

Rouge, Breaux Bridge, Kinder, Bossier City, and Sharenton, Louisiana.

His newest project is called the "Steve Adams Network". And has recently released his first CD named, "Playing With

My Friends".

Steve has two children, Stephen and Nick and four grandchildren. He

and his wife Dina, reside in Lafayette, Louisiana

WILLIAM H. (BILL) HADEN, JR.

Billy Haden was born on February 22, 1944, to Bill, Sr. and Rita Haden on Elmira Street in Algiers, as an only child

with a family history in music. His grand-father taught music in Monroe, La. and his grandmother Mary Haden played

the organ for her church. His father, played sax and clarinet with Billy Luft's Stardusters in New Orleans for many

years and was also one of the original members of the New Orleans Jazz Club.

Billy attended Schwartz and Belleville Elementary Schools and graduated from Martin Behrman High School in 1962.

Listening to his dad play Dixieland and to the funeral bands at the church across the street, he realized he wanted to

play like those guys. He started trumpet lessons but switched to guitar, which only lasted a few months due to

Professor Minetta's retirement. So Billy changed to the saxophone. After joining the Junior band and then progressing

to the Senior band, Bill played along side of Buck Baker and Boo Hargis until they graduated.

In 1959, at the age of 15, he met Bill Murray, a drummer, who asked him to join, " The Nobles". The band played the

"CYO" dance circuit, and backed up such locals as Ernie K-Doe, Benny Spellman, Irma Thomas, Lee Dorsey and

Oliver Morgan. In the early 1970's, Billy joined, Burgundy and shared the stage with such greats as Fats Domino,

Wayne Newton, The 4 Tops, The Temptations and The Spinners. More recently he's performed with,

"Local Option", "The

Legacy Trio" and Wayne Foret, prior to joining the " Good Stuff Trio" for six years. He then joined "Billy Bell and the

Dominos" right before leaving the Westbank. Bill was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 1999 as a

member of the Nobles and again in 2003 with Burgundy.

Billy has 4 daughters, Kelly, Lisa, Emily, Jamie and 4 grand-children, Jenna, Lauren, Jacob and Christen. He is

retired and currently lives in Keller, Texas after living on the Westbank for 62 years

WILLIAM A. OUBRE, SR.

"Billy O" was born in Algiers, Louisiana on June 10, 1951, to Leroy

and Audrey Oubre. He has two sisters Denise and Sherry. He attended Belleville Elementary, Edna Karr Jr. High,

Martin Behrman High and was in the first senior graduating class of O. Perry Walker High School.

At the age of 15, Billy began as a drummer with his grandfather's band Bill Redman, performing at the Wudu Lounge,

509 and Wego on the Hill; but he could only play, not drink. Other performances included playing with Skip Easterling

at the Jazz Corner, The Ivanhoe and Papa Joe's in the French Quarter. He was also the drummer for the Aubrey

Twins and later with a group called, "Church" at the Sands Lounge.

Joining up with Westbank musicians like David Adams and Skeeter Thomassie, Billy played at the Keyhole. He also

played with "Russ Russell and The Stingrays" which performed at the Scorpio Lounge, My Father'S Junkyard, Moulin

Rouge, The Round Table, Tahiti Club and Down the Hatch.

Billy began playing in the Buras area with bands like, "Crossfire",

"The Hot Sauce Band" whose members were, Ernie Wilkinson, Ken LeBoeuf, Benny Latino and Ronnie Zuvich. While

playing with "Jerry Fountain and The Board of Trustees" he backed up such Nashville talents as, T.G. Shepard,

Faron Young, Hank Williams, Jr., Little David Wilkens and Box Car Willie.

Billy played three years at the 1801 Club with Janet Lynn and a band called, "Night Rig". He was also the drummer

for Frankie Brent, Bobby Lonero and Billy Fayard at the Celebrity Club, with Steve Adams of

"Creole Cookin' & Tomato" and sang with, "The Contours".

In 1980, joined, "Kingsroe" as lead singer and on April 21, 2002, the band was inducted into the Louisiana Hall of

Fame. Billy retired from the band due to suffering a stroke which caused severe damage to the left side of his body.

Since then, he has made musical appearances on Duane Schurb's 1" Swamp Pop CD featuring Ronnie Boudreaux.

Billy has been married to his wife Judy, for 27 years and have

raised 3 children, Julie, Danielle and William Jr. and have 4 grandchildren. Billy retired from the Belle Chasse Naval

Air Station with 30 years of civil service and has been a musician for 43 years as a drummer, guitarist, pianist and

lead singer

WILLIAM L. KLAUSE III

Bill Klause was born on April 10, 1050, in New Orleans and raised in Westwego. He is the son of the late William

Klause, Jr. and the late Josephine Chiasson Klause and is the brother of John and Brian Klause. After attending Our

Lady of Prompt Succor elementary, Westwego Jr. High and Archbishop Shaw High School, he received a Bachelor of

Music Degree from LSU in 1972. He lived at various locations on the Westbank until 2005 when he moved to

Portland Connecticut, where he now resides.

Bill played piano, organ and harpsichord for several bands

such as, The Chevelles, The Majestics, The Souls of the Slain, Leaves of Grass, Indian Fire, Prism and several

others in spot jobs.

These bands played throughout Louisiana and in Mississippi.

Some of the venues were: The Sands, The Round Table, Beaconette, Purple Pickle, Playboy Club, Keesler Air Force

Base, YMBC and Democratic Halls in Westwego, VFW in Gretna, The Roach Club, Gunga Din, The Boot, and

Gerald's Lounge. He also played at many high school proms for Jesuit, De La Salle, Shaw, Dominican, Holy Cross,

Redemptorist, East & West Jefferson and many Battles of the Bands

WILMAN LOUIS "PEE WEE" GUIDRY

"Pee Wee" Guidry was born in New Orleans on September 14, 1952 to the late Harold J. and Mary McGee Guidry.

He is one of 5 children, having 3 brothers Harold, Kirk and Keith and 1 sister, Alice. Raised on the outskirts of

Harahan, he attended Hazel Park Elementary and Kenner Jr. High schools.

His love of music was encouraged by his father Harold. His father taught him rhythm and bass guitar, while his Uncle

Joe taught him the drums. At the age of 13, he and a group of his friends formed a band named, "The Lords of

London", which lasted only a few years. Still very young,

"Pee Wee" played

with his father in Red LeBlanc's band, with Huey Bourgeois' band and Skeeter Thomassie's band all at the Keyhole.

He played at the Canal Bank Inn and with Bobby Tuddle at the Silver Spur. Also with Angelo Costa, Bobby Varnado,

Dinky, Easy Gauthreaux and Bob Allen at the Fireman's Hall, all in Westwego.

"Pee Wee" continued to play in several other bands such as,

"The

Epics"and "Frank and The Brown Eyes". Years later he formed his own band and still performs today as, "Pee Wee &

The Country Boys". He has been in the music business for 43 years and continues to play for the love of music. He

often sits in with other musician friends like, Kenny L, Nighthawk, Buddy D. and the Changing Times Band.

For the last 41 years, "Pee Wee" has owned and operated his own business,

"Guidry Trucking and Dozer Service". He has also raised 2 daughters, Brandy Marie and Amanda Sue and has 7

grandchildren. He presently resides in Norco, Louisiana.

As long as there is a song to be sung, a string to pick and a drum to beat,

"Pee Wee" Guidry will continue to play music
